Glasgow is preparing itself to host the Commonwealth Games in the summer of 2014 on behalf of the UK. Like the Olympics in London 2012, this is a UK wide event and “Glasgow 2014”, the team leading the preparations for the Commonwealth Games, are looking for nurses with a background in emergency care, acute care settings and primary care, as well as a number of other Health Care Practitioners, to bring their expertise to this event.

From the feedback that was received in relation to the athletes and team staff at the Olympic Games in London, it is clear that a skilled, enthusiastic and highly professional clinical workforce was part of the Games success and that the volunteers who came from right across the UK gained a lot from it . Volunteers will be needed to provide similar medical care for the 6,500 athletes and staff who will be coming to Glasgow and staying in the Games Village or Games Family hotel so we need volunteers willing to give a minimum of 8 days over the period of the Games in July/August 2014.

On-line applications  will be welcomed  and there is lots of information on the website.

Applications close  28th of February

To apply and for further information, please visit the website at: www.Glasgow2014.com and http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20130123170713/http://volunteering.glasgow2014.com/medical-roles.
